Finished 1st Project!

Cindi's Scarf~My Very 1st Knitting Project! Posted by Picasa
-
I finally finished Cindi's scarf. Well I finished it last weekend but never got around to taking pictures so I could post it. You can see some more pictures here. Now I'm making Jack a scarf, at least until I feel I'm in a place to start a new project. I have a few in mind.

Monthly Re-Cap

So one of my new year's resolutions was to do a monthly re-cap so it would be easy to see at the end of the year the major events and changes that happened during the year.

January:

  • Sent out our Save-The-Date cards and then changed the date
  • Started a knitting class & started knitting Cindi a scarf
  • Started a sabbatical from most of my email
  • Met with Medusa about our wedding-made some hard decisions and created a "team"
  • Started classes on-line again after taking December off-taking a math class for the first time in five and a half years.
  • Recognizing issues with work and making plans for my future career
  • Spent a weekend without Cindi
  • Met our friend Stephanie's new son Nicholas
  • Decided my grandma should sell her business
  • My family starts talking about my dad getting a new job and possibly moving

February:

  • Spent another weekend without Cindi
  • Decided for sure I don't want to be an Accountant
  • Made pledges to Brigid
  • Started a sabbatical from the Ritual Planning Group
  • Started looking into various degrees in Library Science
  • Went with Cindi to our new doctor for her asthma and our future attempt at pregnancy
  • Purchased a basal thermometer and a book on fertility tracking & began charting
  • My second tax season doing taxes
  • Started looking into new cars Purchased a new car
  • Trying to look into new place for fall-pushed to decide if we are staying or not by February 15th [WTF!], put in an application at a different apartment complex
  • Ordered our wedding invitations to print at home
  • Purchased glasses for Cindi
  • Finished my first knitting project - a scarf for Cindi

Brand New Car!

Our Car {Well Close} Posted by Picasa
-
So we purchased a brand new car Sunday! A silver 2006 Chevy HHR. We went to look at cars and ended up taking it home with us! I still can't believe it, I've never had something so nice {and expensive} in my life. I will take a picture and post it here instead of the picture above. Now we just have a lot of debt for a long time.

Disaster

Kymberli + Salmon Oil = Disaster
Being the natural lesbian mom's to our pets that we are, we give our two cats and our dog salmon oil with their food to keep them shiny and soft. We had purchased 64 oz. in a glass amber bottle from Timberwolf Organics awhile back and need more, but they've been out of stock for awhile. We decided to get some from another company. We got a bigger bottle that was plastic so we figured we could pour some into the glass bottle for easier usage. Saturday after giving the animals dinner I decided to go ahead and fill up the glass bottle. I pulled the plastic jug out of the fridge. Luckily I decided to do it in the sink because I over filled the bottle. I put the cap on and and rinsed the bottle off with warm/hot water to get the extra salmon oil off the bottle, dried it off, and put it in the fridge. A little bit later I went to get some juice out of the fridge and the 64 oz. bottle of Salmon Oil had exploded all our over the inside of the fridge. The fridge that we had just filled with new food that afternoon. I had a meltdown, it was not pretty! Luckily Cindi stepped up and started cleaning, which I ended up helping her do after I calmed down a bit. So the lesson is don't rinse off glass bottles containing cold liquid with hot water!

Fun Time For Kitties

-
When we get a bigger place I want to get this for our kitties. It's only $59.99 + shipping. Doesn't it look like so much fun! Ivy would *love* sleeping in the little house, way up above everyone. She'll be able to look down her nose at all of us! It would be fun in front of a window.

Apartment Update

Our manager finally called us back. The rent for a two bedroom is $1020 for current renters though I don't think this counts the additional $10 pet rent, so we're looking at $1030. The other two bedroom apartments we're looking at are bigger and are $1038, so for $8 more a month we get 80 sq. ft. Hmmm... We're going to go Monday to take a look at two bedrooms apartments at the new complex, she said the apartments on the ground level go faster but if we like them and can get approved, we'll be able to sign a lease right away. Though I do think we should at least look at the two-bedroom at our current complex before making a final decision. Currently the only two-bedroom available is the one right above the manager, no thank you.

My Amazing Woman

-
When I got home last night I found this magazine nuzzled in with our other mail. My amazing woman mailed out the subscription request for this magazine I'd been holding on to for over a year. I'd decided I couldn't get a knitting magazine until I had actually started knitting again. When I have time I'm gonna sit down and see if it's something I want to subscribe to. At this point I think discovering new products and types of yarn are going to be what I get out of it. I'm sure most, if not all, of the patterns are way beyond my current ability. But it's fun to dream that some day I'll be knitting those fancy patterns.

Home Sweet Home

So my lady & I have been talking for awhile about the possibility of us renting a house so we could have more space for all our stuff, a yard for Jack and maybe a new puppy, room for a future baby, and more room so we can shut the cats out of the bedroom. Our lease isn't up until the end of August, but our manager wants us to decide by March 31st if we're staying.
Well we've been looking at prices for renting homes and they are really high, like around double what we're paying now. So we were thinking a two-bedroom apartment instead of the tiny one-bedroom 700 sq. ft. apartment we're in now. The complex we live in has two-bedroom apartments that are 845 s. ft. We like the manager and the apartments, so I left a message with her, but she hasn't gotten back to us. Cindi found another complex that has two-bedroom apartments that are 925 sq. ft. plus they have a dog run and an exercise room. Here is the floor plan which much to my delight shows a pantry in the kitchen! Our current bedroom has three closets but it would be ok because there is additional storage outside in the patio and a whole entire extra bedroom. I don't know what we'd do with two bathrooms!

The thought of packing and moving all our stuff makes me wanna cry, especially because it'll be right around the end of my last set of classes. But I'm sure we'll be able to get help and it'll be a great excuse to sort through and get rid of stuff. I LOVE doing that, I wish I had more time to sort and organize.
Just for grins here is the floor plan for our current apartment, obviously not to scale.

Humor on a Sunny Sunday Afternoon

Yes I Am Alive

Last week was crazy. Work was busy, I've started training to do the bookkeeping for one of our clients who just opened a nut processing plant, Super Squirrel Nut Company. The women who was supposed to do the bookkeeping had an allergic reaction to the nuts and no longer work on site. They use a computer program I'm not familiar with so I'm trying to learn it, mostly on my own. Tax season has officially started. Everyone is running in/calling so they can get their refunds asap. I also had quite a bit of homework this week but wasn't much in the mood for homework after working my ass off all day long. I forgot was busy felt like. It sucks.
Cindi was gone again this weekend to a trade show. Last time I was a cleaning queen. Not this time. Friday evening I took Jack to run around and I sorted through some stuff we want to get rid of and made a list so Cindi can post it on our local Freecycle when she gets home. Yesterday I hung out with our good friend Stephanie and her two beautiful children. We went to Target, Michael's, Taco Bell and Barnes & Noble. I got some Lavender cleaner at Target and "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" at Barnes and Noble. I spend yesterday evening going through our wedding planner and making some lists of stuff to go over, updating my other blogs, knitting and reading. Today I'm planning to do laundry and my math homework. Past that I'm not sure.

Nephew Update

Me & My Nephew Jan 21, 2006
He is now a month old, and still very adorable! I can't wait for us to have our own baby. He's so snuggly and cuddly. Most of the time when I see him he's sleeping, he makes the cutest little noises and faces while he sleeps. It'll be so fun when he's a few months older and will be able to play with us more. I continue to be amazed at what the human body can create.

Unmotivated

~These jerks have the right idea~

I think I out-did myself last weekend, I was so motivated and got so much done, and this weekend I'm feeling very unmotivated and lazy. We did manage to get our normal chores as well as some cleaning done, but I don't feel like doing much else. I have homework due tonight and I just might turn it in late tomorrow. I just want to sit on the couch, watch the super bowl, and knit. Actually what I'd really like to do is take a long nap, but then I wouldn't even get some knitting done and would probably sleep until 8:00pm and have a horrible nights sleep. Sometimes I can't wait to be done with school but on the other hand I do enjoy the feeling of a good grade at the end of the term. Sigh.

Well, I did get some knitting done since I last updated on the progress of Cindi's scarf. This is where I'm currently at, I'm over half-way done!

I {heart} Jenny Lewis!

Jenny Lewis Posted by Picasa

I need to start paying more attention to my weekly onion email. I happened on their website and found a review of Jenny's solo album "Rabbit Fur Coat". Cindi and I are getting a nice chunk back from our taxes so I might have to set aside some money to buy more music, this included. Isn't she so cute! I'd love to go see her solo...maybe there will still be tickets available when we get our refunds.
